Since 1976, the annual Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks celebration has been a beloved Independence Day tradition in New York City. The nation’s largest and most popular pyrotechnic show fills the sky with vibrant colors, shapes, and lights accompanied by synchronized music.
Mark your calendar: This year, the 25-minute fireworks spectacular is scheduled for Thursday, July 4, 2024, from 9:30 p.m. to 9:55 p.m.
For the first time in a decade, the show has moved from the East River, and the fireworks will be launched from barges on the Hudson River on the West Side of Manhattan.
Spectators on the New York side of the river can witness this thrilling event live from viewing spots between West 14th and West 34 Street. The best views from the New Jersey side will be from Hoboken and Jersey City.
The 48th edition of the Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Show features live performances and will be broadcast nationally on NBC TV beginning at 8 p.m. ET, so the extravaganza can be viewed comfortably from home.

“The display will offer a showstopping and high-flying salute to the nation,” said Will Coss, Executive Producer of Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks, in a press release announcing the event. “Following last year’s first-of-its-kind drone display, our team has been hard at work developing new ways to surprise and delight our fans.”
While the New York City show is free and open to the public (no tickets are required), various hotels and other venues in the city will be curating special experiences to enhance the Fourth of July celebration. These offerings include unique viewings, menus, specially crafted co*cktails, live music, and room packages.

Fourth of July Fireworks at Gansevoort Rooftop Soiree
Located in the trendy Meatpacking District, the Gansevoort Rooftop Loft will offer revelers food, elevated co*cktails, and music al fresco from 7 PM to 1 AM while they watch the fireworks light up the sky.
Soiree tickets range from $60 to $150 (exclusive of food and beverage) and are available via Eventbrite. Overnight hotel guests can get 20% off rooftop party tickets online, by email (guestcoordinators@theghg.com), or by phone at 212-206-6700.
Equinox Hotel New York Fourth of July Package
The Equinox Hotel New York, rated the best wellness hotel in NYC by Forbes, is located in Hudson Yards. Guests can book a River View Room or Suite, relax and unwind while they dine, and enjoy a complimentary champagne bottle upon arrival and a $150 Food and Beverage credit during their stay.
From 6 p.m., guests at Electric Lemon (an on-site restaurant on the 24th floor) can enjoy seasonal light bites, festive co*cktails, and DJ Darling Chuck's tunes. The special offer is based on a minimum two-night stay and is only available in river-view rooms.
Elevated Experiences At One World Observatory
One World Observatory, the highest observation deck in the city and the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere, will offer guests the unique opportunity to celebrate the fourth 1,268 feet in the sky. Guests will be able to celebrate the 4th of July with a 360-degree view of New York City and its firework-filled sky.
Two “elevated” experiences are being offered. The Fourth of July Dining Experience at ONE Dine on the 101st floor includes two complimentary drinks and light bites. It is $295 per person and bookable via OpenTable.
The All-Inclusive Fourth of July Special is $69 for adults. It includes access to the observatory, which offers a panoramic view of the city between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m., and a $15 voucher to use at the cafe, satellite bar, or gift shop.
Fourth of July at The Edge
At the Edge at Hudson Yards, ticket holders will be granted private access to explore Edge’s indoor and outdoor viewing areas from 8:00 p.m. to 11 p.m. as they enjoy the sight of the fireworks display. Rising 1,131 feet in the air and extending out 65 feet from the 100th floor, the outdoor viewing area features a glass floor, angled glass walls, and outdoor skyline steps between the 100th and 101st floors.
A $400 ticket includes: access to fireworks, a DJ set, two-hour open bar (21+), and unlimited appetizers from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Entry time is from 7:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Viewing Party at Virgin Hotels New York City
Virgin Hotels New York City NoMad is offering access to their 38th-floor Loft space for a firework viewing party from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. The event will feature sounds by DJ Select, games, and specials from Montauk Brewing Company and Sweet Chick.
Tickets are $40 each, plus tax and gratuity, and can be purchased online. The ticket price includes one complimentary beverage.
The offerer notes that this will be a partial viewing party as some buildings in the area compromise 100% unobstructed views. The starting price for a room on July 4th is $285/night (excluding taxes and fees).
