Is it possible to use peaches in lite syrup? My husband has food allergies and can’t have the heavy syrup in regular canned peaches.

I would definitely say that would work Deborah. Be sure not to drain them as the directions say. Let us know how it turns out!

This maybe a dumb question but Do you mix the cake mix first or just put the powder?
Reply
Nope just put in the powder. 🙂 Sounds crazy but it works!

I want to use fresh peaches. And I bought fresh ones before realizing it called for canned in heavy syrup….I CAN go get peaches with syrup but was wondering if i could replace the syrup with something else? Making today so I’ll just go buy canned peaches if needed but if you happen to get back to me with another idea sooner that would be greatly appreciated!

Try a Google search for a recipe for canning your own peaches. Use that then drop in the crock pot!

I am not sure what size mine is but it really only filled the bottom. As long as you are not using one of those mini ones you should be fine.

I wouldn’t because the double layer of cake on top will probably not get done.

I have not tried baking it but I don’t see why not. Maybe try a similar time and temp to my gooey dump cake recipe here:

You can certainly try. You might try cherry pie filling instead of just canned cherries.

Yes. Do not mix. The cake mix is the dry mix. In order as in peaches first.

Hi, I tried making this but my cake never did cook; it was just warm batter in peaches and butter. It tasted okay but I’m wondering if anyone else had this experience.

I cooked this last evening. At two hrs. cake dis not seem done. Cooked it more and it still isnt done. Is this dump cake suppose to be still like a batter? I took a small dish and put it the micro oven and tried to cook it a little bit more and it still souper. I am very disapointed.

It should not be like batter but it is fairly soupy. More like a cobbler? Did you cook on high for the two hours?

I have baked a lot of Dump Cakes but never in the crock pot. The only thing that I wonder about it what size crock pot do you use. I have 3 sizes 4, 5, and 6. I know that you can cook it to long if you use a bigger one. Please put that in when you send out these different things to cook.

What size crock pot? I have a large one. Also, how do you get the cake out in one piece?

A large one should work. And it will not be in one piece. It is more like a cobbler.

One of my favorite recipes! So easy and really yummy. It was a big crowd pleaser at a family get-together. We had zero leftovers… Going to have to get 2 slow cookers going next time!

We found it disgustingly sweet. I love the concept though. I’m going to try a less sweet option for that part, like maybe Bisquick or something.
