The Importance of "Simming Yourself" as a Retribution Paladin
With the sheer number of possible gear combinations, a generic stat priority or BiS list is often not going to be the best way to determine how to gear your character.Instead, you can use Raidbots to get a better idea of how changing different items will affect your character. Especially for Retribution, you will frequently findthe values of different stats fluctuate a lot as you upgrade your gear, so using a more objective metric to help you make gearing decisions is invaluable.
If you are not experienced with using Raidbots, see the guide below for more information on how to use it:

Retribution Paladin Tier Set for Dragonflight Season 4
The Tier Set bonuses for Dragonflight Season 4 for Retribution Paladin are:
Paladin Retribution 10.2 Class Set 2pc —
Expurgation lasts an additional 3 seconds and deals 30% more damage.Casting
Judgment or
Divine Toll on a target with
Expurgation causes
Wrathful Sanction, damaging the target andresonating half of the initial damage to up to 4 nearby enemies.
Paladin Retribution 10.2 Class Set 4pc —
Wrathful Sanction grants you
Echoes of Wrath, causing your next
Final Verdict or
Divine Storm to deal damage a second time at 25% effectiveness.
These bonuses dramatically increase the power of Judgment and buff your spender damage significantly, too. You should use both bonuses as soon as possible, replacing older tier sets as soon as you can.
Since you only need 4 out of the 5 items to activate the bonus, you can drop the Chest for other items if necessary, depending on your current gear.

Best Gear To Spend Bullions On For Retribution Paladin
Season 4 offers a way to target specific, powerful items with the new Antique Bronze Bullion. Here are the best items to spend your Bullions on in Dragonflight Season 4.
Scale of Awakening
Elementium Pocket Anvil
- A second trinket and
Seal of Diurna's Chosen
Voice of the Silent Star and
Seal of Filial Duty
- Other trinkets and
Ouroboreal Necklet
Fyr'alath the Dreamrender is significantly better than other weapons, and the ability to upgrade its item level is worth far more than any other upgrade from Bullions.
Elementium Pocket Anvil is recommended as the next purchase as it is the strongest trinket for Retribution in almost all situations. After those, the next best item to buy depends a bit on what you have available and whatcontent you want to prioritize purchases for. A second trinket will usually be the best choice for Mythic+, and for Raid a second trinket or
Seal of Diurna's Chosen will be similarly strong depending on what othertrinket options you have available. See the trinket section below for recommendations on which trinkets to buy.
Voice of the Silent Star and
Seal of Filial Duty are good choices afterward, as they are both rare items with a higher item level cap, and then finally
Ouroboreal Neckletis a neck with good stats and a decent secondary effect if you do not yet have a good alternative neck.

Retribution Paladin Crafted Gear and Embellishments
6.1.
Crafted Gear for Retribution Paladin
In general, you should focus your early crafts on getting embellished gear. For more information on that, see the section below.
Once you have your two embellished items, if you do not have Fyr'alath the Dreamrender then the next best item to craft will usually be a weapon, such as
Obsidian Seared Claymore. They do cost 2
Spark of Dreams, so you may not be able to craft one early on, but if you are yet to acquire a highitem-level weapon later in the season, it is an excellent option. Next, jewellery is a good choice since you can customize its secondary stats as required, and all crafted rings come with a socket. Finally, fill out any low-item level non-tier slots such as bracers, cloak, belt, and feet, and then you have the option of crafting additional embellished items for different content types.
When crafting gear, you will want to use a missive to set the item's secondary stats. Although you should sim your options to check what the best one for your gear setup would be, a good default to use is Draconic Missive of the Aurora.
6.2.
Embellishments for Retribution Paladin
For both Raid and Mythic+, you will want to craft two armor slots with Blue Silken Lining. This requires you to stay above 90% health to maintain its buff, but it is the strongest embellishment to use even with low uptime. If the uptime is below around 20%, then other embellishments can be used instead. For single-target, the next best embellishment is
Shadowflame-Tempered Armor Patch, and for Mythic+ or AoE
Allied Wristguard of Companionship and
Elemental Lariat are decent options.
Because crafted gear has a slightly lower item level cap than Myth track items, you will want to use embellishments in slots that have relatively less Strength while not clashing with strong items with extra effects like Voice of the Silent Star.Bracers with either Boots or Belt are good choices for slots to craft.
7.
Retribution Paladin Trinkets
Retribution wants different trinkets depending on the situation. On single-target, trinkets with damage procs or on-use damage effects tend to be stronger, while on AoE, trinkets that provide secondary stats tend to be best.
For single-target, the strongest trinkets in Season 4 are:
Elementium Pocket Anvil - By far the strongest single-target trinket. The on-use does not share a cooldown with other on-use trinkets, but it does require a short channel to use.
Cataclysmic Signet Brand - This trinket is strong for sustained combat, but it does require at least a few minutes to consistently stack up. It does a very small amount of cleave damage, too,but not a significant amount when compared to other trinkets.
Manic Grieftorch - If you consistently have some group members dying to reduce its cooldown, it can be one of the strongest trinkets for single-target. If you do not get any extra uses from itthen there are generally better trinket options.
Blazebinder's Hoof - Especially strong with
Crusade. The stacking effect and final damage are both significant, making this a strong choice for a burst trinket if you have one at high item level.
Ashes of the Embersoul - Another strong burst trinket option that is also great with
Crusade. Provides passive Haste and has an on-use effect that removes that Haste to provide you with a very large Strength buff.
For AoE, the strongest trinkets in Season 4 are:
Ashes of the Embersoul - See above. This is one of the best AoE trinkets while also being a strong single-target trinket as well, making it a good choice for situations where both types of damage are useful.
Neltharion's Call to Chaos - A great passive trinket to pair with an on-use one. It procs a large amount of strength on AoE abilities, which will also happen on single-target when using
Consecrated Blade. It does have the drawback of increasing damage taken while the proc is active, but Retribution is a spec that can usually manage that downside with no issues.
Storm-Eater's Boon - An on-use effect that does a massive amount of damage to surrounding enemies, but roots you in place when used. This root effect cannot be removed with
Blessing of Freedom, making using it often risky.
Whispering Incarnate Icon - A passive statstick that improves in strength when you have group members of other roles using it too. By itself it is unimpressive, but it becomes a decent option if you have all of its buffs.
