  If I didn't have a character limit, I could go on and on about how inflexible of a professor she is. This class is memorization HEAVY and at one point, she started posting the powerpoint lectures with all the text removed...she's childish and petty and she's the most inflexible professors I've ever had. The labs are not that hard but very annoying.

  Dr. Broehl's lectures can be unengaging at times, but the labs are fairly simple and if you take good notes, tests shouldn't be too hard. Keep in mind that this class involves a lot (A LOT!!!) of memorization

  While perhaps Dr. Broehl's teaching style was not super engaging, I appreciated the organized structure of each lecture, time for questions, and that there wasn't much work outside of class. The exams weren't difficult if you paid attention in class and studied well. Lab was tedious, but not hard. Overall, provides a good foundation for biolanth.

  lot of these reviews are accurate but exaggerated a little. she ended up posting the slides in the end and she gave so much extra credit and a easy af final that made it easier to secure an A cant lie. dont skip class, make sure you write down all the notes, refrence the readings when applicable... should get an A.

  While I generally echo what has been said, removing the content from the slides at the midpoint of the semester was INSANE. She would also call out students for trying to take a picture if they were behind on writing down notes. The written tests were not fair-- write a multiple-choice test? Also, how was I meant to learn all those hominins... bye.

  She's very kind and helpful, especially in labs. Attendance does matter for getting full notes and assignments here and there. She responds well to students' requests and was willing to be flexible.

  dude don't take any course with this lady. biological anthro is interesting and i'm sure it would have been a cool class but she taught it. Dr. Broehl does not know how to teach/lecture, write exams, and communicate with her students. as a senior, the worst professor i've had at emory.

  Literally the worst professor I've had. Neither a good lecturer or a good person. Goes out of her way to take essential info off slides and also refuses to answer simple questions?? And takes like 10 mins to explain smth when any normal person would take 2 and makes her exams written answer questions for a class that is entirely memorization based.

  Do not take. Avoid. She is a horrible lecturer, feels like you're being read a wikipedia page. Expected students to memorize primates and human skeleton after just reading lists.   Rather than rooting for the success of students, this professor brags about the difficulty of exams. She's difficult to talk to and never answers questions without sarcasm or snarky remarks. She rarely answers emails so contacting her outside of class is difficult. The class is structured too harshly for an intro course. Save yourself the trouble.

  This class is a lot of work and harder than you would expect, but Dr. Broehl provides a lot of information and examples to prepare you for quizzes and exams. The labs are a must and help you grasp the material before you are tested on it.

  This is Dr. Broehl first time teaching at a university so she's on some power trip. Mid-semester she decided to stop posting lecture slides which seems unfair. What kind of professor withholds information from their students?? I've taken many ANT courses at Emory and the way she runs her class is disappointing and truly a shame to the department.
