Gay as the day is long...
Pyrex, 1953
Even "glory box girls" ? and bachelor girls! love Pyrex for Christmas.
Mr. Gay Bachelor has a lithe figure and a kicky vest, too. Yellow tie is a bold choice with a handlebar moustache. :D
Bachelor girl has a smart and comfortable ensemble in striking red/black.
Three more very gay ads behind the cut!

A glory box was a thing you had to store stuff for your forthcoming marriage, whether you had a husband lined up or not, I think.
They're not even pretending with that Bachelor Gay, are they? It's Sal Romano with a tache.

I was thinking it was a mature version of Sal Mineo, if he'd not been murdered so young.

Um. I don't find the gay sandwich luncheon all that appetizing. Do I have to turn in my membership card now?

Mothers with food-what families? Is that "food-conscious?" I'm not sure your ad works if I can't even read your font... ;-)

I agree 1000%. I hate crap font choices: "art over legibility"

Although to be fair, cursive handwriting was far more recognized then than it is now. My mom would have no trouble reading that ad (apart from her eyes), but my students would be stumped in several places.

If I'm a newlywed wife and he brings me Pyrex in bed? We'll test how unbreakable Pyrex *really* is - over his head.

My sources (friends of the female persuasion) suggest that pyrex does indeed stand up to heat, pressure, and years of hard use.

they do. plus since they're a hard sealed surface, they're a LOT easier to keep clean and sanitary.

I can only imagine emptying the washer and calling up to my fiancee,
"Honey, you left your dild* in the dishwasher, please come get it."

If it has one of those in it, I think it would qualify as a "glory box." I'm sure bachelor girl and bachelor gay would love it, too. Maybe that's why Grandmother is so young-at-heart and why Grandfather looks so happy, too. Same with mother with the food-whatever family.
Pyrex. Something for everyone!

I think I'd kick my husband in the teeth if he gave me new Pyrex for Christmas. Maybe a vintage piece (which I realize they all are now)would be acceptable

Not all Pyrex is vintage - they still make it. Just bought a new set last week. But I also bought three vintage Pyrex dishes at the thrift store a couple weeks ago. It just holds up that well! :)

I'm glad the term "glory box" was explained. I had no clue what it was. "Glory Box Girls" sounds a bit like a p*rno title, though, doesn't it? lol
